Exmoor National Park

A peaceful and wildly enchanting landscape made up of moorland, woodland, coast and river, there is plenty to see and do in Exmoor alone. It’s also Europe’s first International Dark Sky Reserve, making it one of the best places to stargaze. We’ve put together some of the best things to do on Exmoor to add to your holiday bucket list!

If getting outside and enjoy a good old-fashioned stomp in the fresh countryside air is your cup of tea, you will be totally spoilt for choice at Exmoor! From the Valley of the Rocks, to the great Mesolithic ridgeway, thought to be part of the only continuous ridgeway from England to Cornwall, there is a plethora of choices available. Whether you want an easy stroll or a more challenging hike, all fitness levels will be able to enjoy this magical landscape.

Exmoor Wildlife Safaris

Exmoor Safaris offers a unique way to enjoy Exmoor. From the comfort of a Land Rover 110 Defender, you can learn about Exmoor’s varied wildlife, including the iconic Exmoor ponies, red deer, birdlife, as well as the flora and fauna. With various length tours available, this is a great way to not only learn more about this special landscape but still enjoy it if you’re unable to walk long distances and/or navigate the terrain.

Exmoor Dark Skies

Europe’s first International Dark Sky Reserve, Exmoor is one of the best places in the whole of the UK to stargaze. Thanks to the minimal light pollution, you’ll be treated to a dazzling display of twinkling stars and even astronomical sights like the Milky Way! You’re free to enjoy the night skies yourself but if you’d prefer something organised, you will find a range of events via the Exmoor National Park website.

If you want to fill your time on Exmoor with a little more adrenaline and action, Exmoor Adventures is for you! Offering a wide variety of activities, from mountain biking to paddleboarding to tree climbing, they use some of the best locations on Exmoor to deliver their activities. Dunkery Beacon

Exmoor’s highest point at 1,705ft (519m), there are few spots as incredible for drinking in the glorious views than Dunkery Beacon! Don’t forget your camera because you’re guaranteed to want to capture the wonderful scenery this vantage point offers. As expected, the walk to Dunkery Beacon is on the steeper side, but so worth the climb when you get to the top!
