The Black Venus

We are lucky to have such a great, popular pub right here in our village. They serve consistently delicious meals, good value and with an amazing varied menu so there’s something for everyone. We love it that they produce some of there own veggies, herbs and eggs, organically. You will need to book  to avoid missing out.

Exmoor Forest Inn

Simonsbath

The kitchen garden on the family estate supplies vegetables and soft fruit, and the beef and lamb is organic and grass-fed from their own farm too. Ben the head chef is creative and inspired, and together with his team create wonderful dishes with all these wonderful ingredients at their fingertips.

Tarr Farm Inn

river Barle

If out exploring the Barle River, this pub is situated right next to it, overlooking the ancient Tarr Steps bridge. We can recommend this cosy, welcoming pub serving hearty bar food, or a more refined al la carte menu in the restaurant.

If you enjoy beautifully cooked Thai food we can recommend eating here. The chef here is called Nart Napa and she cooks mouth watering, authentic Thai dishes having been trained under a celebrity chef in Thailand. – Booking is recommended.

The Muddiford Inn

Muddiford

The chef/proprietor here has an illustrious career as a chef which includes working in iconic British inns and hotels, having started his career at the Michelin-starred Carlton Elite Hotel in Switzerland. He has since achieved numerous accolades in country house hotels including the famous Sir Christopher Wren’s House Hotel, Windsor where he was Executive Head Chef for 10 years.  And now the Muddiford has been awarded 9/10 for food by the Daily Telegraph.

We love this Cafe which overlooks the sea above Woolacombe beach. Which offers a changing selection of artisan sandwiches, salads, savouries, cakes, gourmet roasted coffee, local dairy ice cream and more. Open every day through the holiday season and just weekends in the winter months.

Mother Meldrums

If you are out exploring the Valley of Rocks this is a great place for a cream tea, you can sit under the trees on a fine day. They also serve generous cakes and a selection of lunches.
